Most People Don't Listen To Understand But To Reply

The late Dr. Stephen Covey stated,"Most people do not listen
to understand; they listen with the intent to reply."

Have you ever been in a situation where your having a conversation
with someone and they can't wait to get the words out before you
finish your thought. How many of us are guilty of that?
I'll be honest me too! Yet I keep telling myself it's rude and disrespectful
to the speaker.

Why do we do this as we're, I'm sure not trying insult the other person.
One reason could be we think at different speeds and because some us have
the ideas flowing and just can't stop.  I don't know if it's because I'm a
Gemini but I'm like that and I have an enthusiastic personality so I
get all caught up in the conversation and forget my manners.

On the other, some people are caught up in themselves they don't
know how to share the platform. It's almost like that old saying;
" If I want your opinion I'll give it to you"!

I believe all of us, including me, should realize we could learn from
each others experience if only we would truly listen to understand.
Maybe we could then find a worldwide dialogue to settle differences,
reach new understandings, create a common ground for all people
to come together in love , peace, and understanding.

Regardless of your beliefs or perspective, we are One People we
just haven't realized it yet. We keep looking at the pie as slices and
not one beautiful whole pie.

To understand another can be a beautiful gift and a bonding experience.
Yeshua said,"Love others as I have loved you." What better way
to show this then to show respect for another than by truly listening
and  trying to understand the perspective of another.

Patricia Claire McKillip wrote," What is love but to have an open
mind to the opinions of others."
You are so right my love!
